FAQs
Is your product raw?
It’s raw-inspired, meaning it follows the nutritional balance of an 80/10/10 prey model diet (80% meat, 10% bone, 10% organ), but it’s not raw in the traditional sense. Thanks to sterilisation, the product is shelf-stable and safer to handle — no freezing, no defrosting, and reduced risk of pathogens.
There are no artificial preservatives contained within the food, it is kept shelf stable as it is sealed before undergoing a combination of pressure and temperature regulation . The food is first sealed in its final packaging, then placed under pressure. The combination of pressure and temperature control safely removes harmful bacteria and slows spoilage, all without damaging the natural structure of the food.
Because the food is treated after it is sealed, it is never exposed to air again. This prevents recontamination and helps keep it fresh for longer.
Unlike traditional cooking, utilising a combination of pressure and temperature regulation does not dry the food out or destroy its natural moisture. The food keeps its original texture, flavour, and nutritional integrity while remaining safe to eat.
Is the bone content safe for dogs?
Our bone content is fully processed, sterilised for safety, and finely milled to particles approximately 2mm. This ensures it's safe to digest, delivers essential minerals, and eliminates any risk of splintering.
How much Prime Performance should I feed my dog?
Feeding amounts depend on your dog's age, weight, and activity level. Here's a straightforward guide:
- For puppies aged 3 to 6 months, feed 8% of their current body weight per day.
- From 6 to 12 months, feed 5% of body weight daily.
- Between 12 and 16 months, feed 4% of body weight each day.
- For adult dogs 16 months and older, feed between 2% and 3% of their body weight daily, depending on their energy output. Less active dogs do well on 2%, while working or highly active dogs may require closer to 3%.
Prime Performance's firm texture makes accurate portioning simple — whether you're feeding for growth, maintenance, or performance.
Does it need to be frozen?
No. Prime Performance is shelf-stable and can be stored at room temperature between 5-25c. It’s ideal for travel, working dogs in the field, or owners who prefer feeding without the hassle of freezing or defrosting.
Does it need to be refrigerated?
Once opened, refrigerate, store in an airtight container and use within 5 days. Refrigeration is recommended to maintain freshness and texture.
Can I use this as a training aid?
Absolutely. The firm, clean texture allows for easy hand-feeding and controlled portioning, making it a perfect reward for hand feeding working or active dogs during training sessions.
Is Prime Performance suitable for dogs with allergies?
Each recipe is single- or dual-protein with no artificial additives, making it a smart option for dogs with sensitivities. For protein-specific allergies, select a formula that suits your dog.
Is this suitable for senior dogs or less active breeds?
While formulated for working dogs, Prime Performance is nutritionally balanced and suitable for any dog that benefits from high-quality, digestible protein. Adjust portion sizes based on age, activity level, and health needs.
Is this just a pate?
Unlike typical pâtés, which contain binders and preservatives such as flours/grains and have a soft consistency, Prime Performance is a binder-free, firm-textured 80/10/10 feed. Its structure is naturally set through processing, not additives — making it ideal for slicing, portioning, and hand-feeding without mess.
What are your compositions and ingredients?
Nutritional Composition:
Each formula follows the classic prey model ratio:
- 80% meat — for protein, strength, and stamina
- 10% organ meat — a natural source of vitamins and minerals
- 10% bone — finely milled (under 2mm), sterilised for safety, providing essential calcium and phosphorus
No artificial ingredients, fillers, grains, preservatives, or binders. Just nutrient-rich whole food, processed to be safe and shelf-stable.
